Mojácar Council held an ordinary plenary session today, 26th of March, in which issues relevant to the municipality's economic, social, and tourism development were addressed.

Among the agreements adopted, Mojácar joining the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations stands out. This initiative will allow for progress in the modernisation of the local tourism model, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and the digitalisation of the destination. In addition, the municipality joins the Spanish Network of Destinations for Diversity (REDD), reinforcing its commitment to inclusion and respect for diversity.

Thanks to the Government team’s sound management, Mojácar municipality has a budget surplus this year, hence allocating this surplus towards improving the municipal padel tennis facilities was approved at the plenary meeting, as well as the remaining surplus being used to pay off debt.

During the session, motions presented by the PSOE municipal group were also debated. Regarding the proposal to declare Cala de Bordenares a recommended nudist beach, the governing team responded firmly, noting that this beach already has naturist-use status, as reflected in the latest amendment to the bylaw in 2012.

The governing team pointed out that the initiative again demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of the reality in Mojácar, by now proposing a declaration that has already been recognised for over a decade.
