The Local Council recognises the career of the long-time Servigroup area manager in Mojácar and his involvement in promoting the destination for more than two decades

Mojácar Council has presented the 2026 Golden Indalo to Ricardo Escudero in recognition of his professional career and his contribution to the development and consolidation of Mojácar as one of the leading tourist destinations in the Levante region of Almería.

The event was held at the Hotel Puntazo in Mojácar Playa and was part of the launch of the “Sustainable Mojácar” campaign, a day dedicated to reflecting on the present and future of tourism in the municipality.

The presentation of the Golden Indalo is one of the most emblematic and best-loved events on Mojácar's official calendar. Since 1993, the municipality has awarded this honorary reward to national and international figures - artists, journalists, sportspeople, companies, and institutions - who have significantly contributed to promoting Mojácar's image and prestige in the world.

Honouring someone with the Golden Indalo means expressing the affection and gratitude of the people of Mojácar to those who, through their professional careers, projects, or public presence, have helped the municipality gain recognition as a quality tourist destination.

This year, the award went to Ricardo Escudero, who, from 2003 and until just a few days ago, served as the area manager for Servigroup Hotels in Mojácar, playing a key role in the development of the local hotel sector and the municipality's tourism promotion.

For more than two decades, Escudero has worked closely with the business community, institutions, and industry professionals to strengthen the destination's tourism offer, standing out for his professionalism, unwavering dedication, and commitment to excellence.

The mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García Cerdá, underlined during the presentation of the reward that the Golden Indalo symbolises “the gratitude of the people of Mojácar to those who have contributed to the growth of our municipality.”

“Ricardo Escudero has dedicated a large part of his professional life to tourism and has been a figure closely involved in the development of our destination. In his role within the hotel sector, he has always worked with honesty, commitment, and a tremendous dedication to service. With this recognition, we want to thank him for his contribution to Mojácar continuing to be a benchmark tourist destination,” the Mayor said.

The motivation behind this 2026 Golden Indalo can be summed up in one word: thanks. This gratitude comes from his clients, from the numerous professionals who have been part of his team, from tourism sector business people, from institutions, and especially the people of Mojácar, who recognise in his career an example of dedication to the development of the destination.

Ricardo Escudero's professional career began in 1977 at the Hotel Los Dálmatas in Benidorm. He went on to develop his career in various leading hotels, holding management positions at the Hotel Papa Luna during the 1980s and 1990s and at the Hotel Torre Dorada from 2000 onwards.

In 2003 he arrived in Mojácar to take on the area management of Servigroup Hotels, a position he held for 23 years and which has been marked by his commitment to the continuous improvement of the tourism offer and his close collaboration with the local sector.

During the presentation, also highlighted was his approach to tourism, based not only on receiving visitors, but on welcoming people, collaborating generously, and taking care of every detail to offer quality experiences.

With the presentation of the 2026 Golden Indalo, Mojácar wishes to publicly recognise the career of a professional who has made a decisive contribution to the municipality's tourism growth and to thank him for all these years of work and dedication.
