Mojácar Council held its ordinary plenary session on the 31st of July, at which several items of interest for the municipality were addressed. These included the approval of the Local Plan for Sports Facilities and Equipment, the formalisation of an agreement with the Junta de Andalucía for the implementation of a bus interchange, the request for the transfer of sections of regional road, and the establishment of local holidays for 2026
First, the calendar of local holidays for 2026 was unanimously approved, which establishes the 12th of June and the 28th of August as public holidays in the municipality.
With the unanimous backing of the corporation, the Mojácar Local Plan for Sports Facilities and Equipment (Record 6447/2024) was definitively approved. This strategic document will guide the planning and improvement of municipal sports infrastructure in the coming years.
Regarding the agreement with the Junta de Andalucía (Record 1736/2021), the plenary session gave the green light to the formalisation of the transfer of the municipal plot located in Rambla de Campos, where the bus interchange is already in operation. This transfer is carried out through a subjective public domain transfer in favour of the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Coordination and Housing, which is currently responsible for this infrastructure.
"The formalisation of this transfer ensures that the infrastructure continues to provide a stable service with regional support. It is a demonstration of institutional cooperation for the benefit of Mojácar, improving mobility and better connecting our municipality with its surroundings," explained Francisco García Cerdá, mayor of the municipality.
The item was approved with seven votes in favour and two against, with the Socialist Municipal Group once again being the only one to oppose an initiative of general interest, and once again demonstrating its disconnection from the reality of the municipality and the functioning of public services, as in the case of a bus station now managed by the Regional Ministry, or the medical centre itself. A party increasingly absent from plenary sessions, showing itself to be outdated and out of touch with the basic understanding of the needs and structures of the municipality it represents.
Finally, the plenary session unanimously approved the request to transfer two sections of the A-370 regional road, in the Cuartillas and Alparatas areas, so they come under municipal jurisdiction. This measure will allow the Local Council to manage these roads more directly and efficiently.
These agreements reflect Mojácar Council's commitment to improving the municipality's services and infrastructure, as well as to institutional collaboration for the development of strategic projects.
