Mojácar strengthens its commitment to senior citizens with a new edition of the Active Memory Workshop in collaboration with the Almeria Provincial Council

Mojácar Council has launched a new edition of the Active Ageing programme with the start of the "A Walk Through Life" workshop, an initiative with funding from the Provincial Council and Social Services, and carried out in coordination with the Levante Sur Community Social Services Centre.

The main aim of this programme, already well-established in the municipality, is to promote elderly people’s cognitive stimulation, fostering the development of their abilities and skills, and encouraging their active participation in social life.

The Local Council continues to support the well-being of this group, broadening the offer of activities and increasing the number of sessions to facilitate access for a greater number of participants. Furthermore, the workshop is completely free, and registration takes place in person at the same location where it is held: the Senior Citizens' Hall in the Multi-Uses Centre, every Wednesday starting at 5.30 pm.

The Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García Cerdá, highlighted the importance of these types of initiatives, stating that “our senior citizens are a fundamental part of Mojácar and deserve every opportunity to stay active, learn, and enjoy a fulfilling life. The Local Council is going to continue working to offer them quality programmes that improve their well-being.”

The Senior Citizens Councillor, Ana García, underlined that “this workshop not only contributes to cognitive stimulation but also creates spaces for getting together, socialising, and social participation, something essential for active and healthy ageing.”

With this initiative, Mojácar reaffirms its commitment to social policies aimed at senior citizens, promoting active, participatory and quality ageing.
