Mojácar Council sets up a new free park-and-ride facility in the El Cantal area

The Local Council has signed an agreement with the owners of the old El Cantal Campsite to provide residents and visitors with a new parking area that will contribute to improving traffic flow in one of the municipality’s busiest spots.

Mojácar Council has signed a collaboration agreement with the owners of the former El Cantal Campground to convert this space into a new, free-access park-and-ride facility, with the aim of facilitating parking and improving traffic flow in one of the municipality’s busiest areas.

The new car park, which has more than 100 parking spaces, has been open to the public since the 15th of July, 2026, offering a convenient and accessible alternative for both residents and the many visitors who travel to this area of Mojácar Playa every day.

The launch of this new parking facility addresses the need to alleviate the high concentration of vehicles registered, particularly during the summer season, promoting more fluid traffic flow and reducing the time spent looking for parking.

Thanks to this initiative, visitors to the area will be able to park for free and more easily access nearby restaurants, shops, and other services, thereby improving the experience for both residents and tourists.

With initiatives like this, Mojácar Council continues to promote measures aimed at improving urban mobility, optimising public services, and offering solutions that contribute to the well-being of local residents and the development of a more comfortable and sustainable tourism.
