This July Mojácar will host one of the most important summer gastronomic events in Almería province: The Burger Cup, a travelling competition that brings together Spain's best burger restaurants in a format that combines gastronomy, live music, a summer atmosphere and public participation.
The competition will take place at the Mojácar football ground, from 7pm to 1am over two consecutive weekends: 18th-20th of July and 24th-27th of July, with free admission and a programme which goes beyond the culinary: DJs, concerts, cocktails, a pet-friendly space and a privileged location next to the Mediterranean.
The event will have 10 participating establishments from different parts of the country, among them Madrid, Valencia, Murcia, León, Ávila and Andalucía, as well as local representation from Mojácar’s Canalla Tacos y Tragos. Every night, those going along will be able to sample the different offerings and vote for their favourite burger in a competition which will crown the best burger of the event.
The Mayor of Mojácar, Francisco García Cerdá, spoke very positively about the celebration of this event in the municipality: “Being the first municipality in the Levante region of Almería to host a gastronomic event of this importance represents a step forward in our backing of tourism diversification and the promotion of Mojácar as a modern and attractive destination. These types of initiatives bring dynamism, attract visitors and directly benefit local trade and the hospitality sector.”
Festivities and Trade Councillor, Pascual Artero, underlined the impact the event will have at local level: “With The Burger Cup our aim is to offer innovative, high-quality options which connect with both our residents and the tourists who visit us in summer. It's an event designed for everyone, free, family-friendly and with a polished image that fits perfectly with what we want to project from Mojácar.”
With this gastronomic and leisure offering, Mojácar strengthens its position as a benchmark tourist destination in the province, getting behind quality events that combine culture, cuisine and entertainment. The Burger Cup not only promises to attract hundreds of visitors but also to establish itself as a must-attend event in the municipality's summer calendar.
